Not bad

I've been pretty generous with my 10's lately but don't please don't be insulted (I doubt their worth that much)

Its really not that bad. Its better then most of my own stuff I'm willing to admit. Work on your mix a bit more, all of the instruments sound like their competing instead of harmonizing, Especially at 00:30, 00:45, and 01:00.

JohnLeprechaun responds:

Yeah, I've been working on that a little since uploading. No promises, but I think I'll be replacing this one soon.

Awesome

dunno why but this reminds me of surfing, sept not on water, surfing on "Air" the feeling of total freedom (even from nature).

The ability to do anything, especially the things that we've always wanted to, Like fly.

I believe you put your best into this song, Good job.

Reminds me...

Reminds me of a classic dispute some people have with themselves.

in one hand they have their upbeat happy go lucky side, hopeful and optimistic.
in the other hand they have their downbeat depressed, unhappy side, hopeless and pessimistic.

In a struggle to balance themselves, they try to keep both inside so they won't show, which never goes well.

The song makes me think..

-------------
0:01 - 0:38
As it plays, the 2 sides are divided from a single person, through the tones (High pitched being happy, low pitched rhythm being unhappy).

0:38 - 1:00
Then in some kind of old 8-bit platformer they journey in opposite directions as if searching for something that is difficult to find. They resound every so often with the same thought although unspoken it is something both sides have in-common (strangely).

1:01 - 2:14
Then as the 2nd high-pitched sound comes in, it seems they found what they were searching for (love it would seem), They journey with their new found love for a bit to take it home to their "Body". But the 2 sides force her to choose between them.

2:15 - 2:42
Which as we all know, would drive anyone away if put in such a position, it did, and the 2 sides reconcile their differences and return home (or maybe they fought, depends on your interpretation).
-------------

Sorry, Couldn't help myself, Awesome song btw.

RetromanOMG responds:

I always enjoy people giving play-by-plays of my songs, because it shows me that they were taken somewhere by the music.

I liked this review.

Gah

I wish I could create sounds like that with my tools, (not the song itself, but the sounds used)

It sounds awesome, What tools are you using?

Awesome

For some reason this really reminds me of beating campaign mode on any video game with the best ending possible.

Sounds like something that should play at the best ending credits.

Also reminds me of F-Zero for some reason.

Keep up the awesome work. oh.. almost forgot.. Party Time!!!

durn responds:

Haha, sweeeet. :D Party time indeed!!! Thanks lordtac. :)

Great

Wonderful job.

I can easily see a couple beginning on a great journey straight out of some kind of hellish situation.

They leave in the morning and ride all day through the woods to get away.

As their riding wonderful things catch their eyes such as the mountains, the tree's and the rivers they pass by.

The hole situation is a bit magical (to perfect) but nothing changes it, its just continually happy and optimistic with no confrontation, taking them to the ultimate level of serenity.

Awesome

Simply awesome, you call this bad? *laughs*

anyways this gives me the perfect image of a couple sitting in front of a camp-fire out in the woods near a beautiful sparking lake graced by that largest full moon you'd ever see.

She looks at him and simply says "I love you" Theirs a pause...

And he Responds, "Those words have never meant so much"

They embrass in a romantic kiss and make love, afterward they lay next to the lake and look into the sky thinking of the child they just made.

Cool

Its been a while sense I've heard any newgrounds stuff but this was really good. not perfect but good.

The part that threw me off the most was the bass around 3:10 I was really expecting it to hit some higher notes in its arpeggio after it hit those low notes.

The Synth at 2:30 seemed kind of erratic and went against the beat a bit.

Take criticism with a grain of salt I say :P besides I've been listening to a ton of black tide recently (The only metal band I really like)

durn responds:

y'know what, dude, I'd actually had a wilder bassline during the outro worked in but... it brought too much energy back to the track and meant I would've had to extend it into a 6-minute tune. :P lol, so I cut it back to simpler like in the intro so I could fade the track out. like I said in response to the review below, I can be lazy. :D

as for 2:30... hmmm, not quite sure what to make of that as everything's on time and no delay is being automated at that point. if you mean the kinda singing synth it's the side-chain compression, which was used throughout but maybe seems more pronounced due to the one-bar drop of the kick when its melody changes.

aye, I encourage criticism. :) love when I get it and they actually give me #:##'s too!! :D thanks for the great review, lordtac!

Lovely

Sounds like a really trancey love song.

I can imagine a couple trapped in cyberspace together but still making the best of it. (Literally trapped in cyberspace, not glued to computer screens)

They explore all 4 seasons at their free will mostly winter for some odd reason. Throwing snowballs making snow-men and snow-angels without the chill of the cold nipping at them. Then around 1:55 they play a scary/FPS game together (rather unexpectedly). Everything seems to go in slow mo as they kill monsters and have fun.

Afterward they relax and hang out in a 3d game (something like the Sims) and snuggle.

Then the day starts again.

durn responds:

:D Thanks for the unique visual journey, dude. As usual, my melodies/moods are very game-inspired so it's cool that it elicited such a trip for ya. :)

And ya, the ending is totally music to shag to. ;) Glad others had the same thought.

hmmm

this deserves a long review "and" a special story line.

quick overview
vvvvvvvvvvvvvv
intro 0:00 / 0:52 - waking up in factory, brought to life.

early 0:53 / 2:31 - everyday life, emotionless cubical work, falling in line like a machine.

middle 2:32 / 4:17 - vocals (someone speaking on a bread-box or perhaps a worried friend talking to you)

end 4:18 / end - Stayed home from work, phone ringing off the hook, sitting on bed head in hands thoughtful and sad at same time.

for hole story see below
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

start/0:52 - Your on your back on a conveyor belt rolling through a dark factory, all you can see is black and white, machines piecing you together bit by bit as your carried along. Your not the only one in this factory.

0:53/1:41 - you awake in bed as if it was a dream, you get dressed, looking in the mirror you see your body is robotic and metallic.

1:42/2:22 - You head out your front door, you look around and see everything is mechanized to some extent or another and everyone is gray. You walk through the city to your work.

2:23/2:30 - you see an electric jack hanging in front of your work station, and you plug it into the back of your neck as you always have.

2:30/ 2:45 - Reality seems to simply fall away. Then you hear the voice of a stranger.

2:46/4:17 - you work while listening to the voice as if in a trance, you never payed it any mind really as it was always the same voice you've always heard, but this time it sounds different, after a while you lose your trance like state and listen, your vision turns blue, then green, then all the colors start to fall into place one at a time bringing color to your vision.

4:18/end - the metallic components of your body break off and fall to the floor. People are shocked as you run out of work shoving them out of the way, you run outside, the sky is gray with lightning and the buildings are metallic silver. The people stare at you with their soulless gaze. They to are all still gray and robotic. You run through the city shoving people out of your way as you escape, the electric jack is still stuck in the back of your neck, but no cable is attached to it.

I the lord am but a pawn of a greater lord.
