Ouch

Ow, *rubs ears* might want to go easier on those snares, otherwise it wasn't so bad.

I'd say about 15% off the volume on the snares, idk if its just be but for some reason they seriously attacked my ears.

Otherwise it sounds pretty good, Kinda like a waiting song.

Rabone responds:

Hey! Thanks for your review... I'll take care about the snares =)

Not bad

I've been pretty generous with my 10's lately but don't please don't be insulted (I doubt their worth that much)

Its really not that bad. Its better then most of my own stuff I'm willing to admit. Work on your mix a bit more, all of the instruments sound like their competing instead of harmonizing, Especially at 00:30, 00:45, and 01:00.

JohnLeprechaun responds:

Yeah, I've been working on that a little since uploading. No promises, but I think I'll be replacing this one soon.

Reminds me...

Reminds me of a classic dispute some people have with themselves.

in one hand they have their upbeat happy go lucky side, hopeful and optimistic.
in the other hand they have their downbeat depressed, unhappy side, hopeless and pessimistic.

In a struggle to balance themselves, they try to keep both inside so they won't show, which never goes well.

The song makes me think..

-------------
0:01 - 0:38
As it plays, the 2 sides are divided from a single person, through the tones (High pitched being happy, low pitched rhythm being unhappy).

0:38 - 1:00
Then in some kind of old 8-bit platformer they journey in opposite directions as if searching for something that is difficult to find. They resound every so often with the same thought although unspoken it is something both sides have in-common (strangely).

1:01 - 2:14
Then as the 2nd high-pitched sound comes in, it seems they found what they were searching for (love it would seem), They journey with their new found love for a bit to take it home to their "Body". But the 2 sides force her to choose between them.

2:15 - 2:42
Which as we all know, would drive anyone away if put in such a position, it did, and the 2 sides reconcile their differences and return home (or maybe they fought, depends on your interpretation).

Sorry, Couldn't help myself, Awesome song btw.

RetromanOMG responds:

I always enjoy people giving play-by-plays of my songs, because it shows me that they were taken somewhere by the music.

I liked this review.

Awesome

For some reason this really reminds me of beating campaign mode on any video game with the best ending possible.

Sounds like something that should play at the best ending credits.

Also reminds me of F-Zero for some reason.

Keep up the awesome work. oh.. almost forgot.. Party Time!!!

durn responds:

Haha, sweeeet. :D Party time indeed!!! Thanks lordtac. :)

Cool

Its been a while sense I've heard any newgrounds stuff but this was really good. not perfect but good.

The part that threw me off the most was the bass around 3:10 I was really expecting it to hit some higher notes in its arpeggio after it hit those low notes.

The Synth at 2:30 seemed kind of erratic and went against the beat a bit.

Take criticism with a grain of salt I say :P besides I've been listening to a ton of black tide recently (The only metal band I really like)

durn responds:

y'know what, dude, I'd actually had a wilder bassline during the outro worked in but... it brought too much energy back to the track and meant I would've had to extend it into a 6-minute tune. :P lol, so I cut it back to simpler like in the intro so I could fade the track out. like I said in response to the review below, I can be lazy. :D

as for 2:30... hmmm, not quite sure what to make of that as everything's on time and no delay is being automated at that point. if you mean the kinda singing synth it's the side-chain compression, which was used throughout but maybe seems more pronounced due to the one-bar drop of the kick when its melody changes.

aye, I encourage criticism. :) love when I get it and they actually give me #:##'s too!! :D thanks for the great review, lordtac!

Lovely

Sounds like a really trancey love song.

I can imagine a couple trapped in cyberspace together but still making the best of it. (Literally trapped in cyberspace, not glued to computer screens)

They explore all 4 seasons at their free will mostly winter for some odd reason. Throwing snowballs making snow-men and snow-angels without the chill of the cold nipping at them. Then around 1:55 they play a scary/FPS game together (rather unexpectedly). Everything seems to go in slow mo as they kill monsters and have fun.

Afterward they relax and hang out in a 3d game (something like the Sims) and snuggle.

Then the day starts again.

durn responds:

:D Thanks for the unique visual journey, dude. As usual, my melodies/moods are very game-inspired so it's cool that it elicited such a trip for ya. :)

And ya, the ending is totally music to shag to. ;) Glad others had the same thought.

???

Why did you tag it with F777? that was really confusing.

idk whether to think this is one of his works you've remastered or your own...

well w/e

to your credit it does sound great but took a point off cause of confusion.

TwilightAlchemist responds:

Well obviously FF7 = Final Fantasy 7, and it is there so u can easily find the song if u look in the related submissions part.

true

Beautiful song, It has a hip-hoppish sound to it but it also has a sort of "Classical" romantic sound as well thanks to the piano and the violin (?)

I'm glad I listened to this. It made my day better.

5/5 10/10

So few people understand the importance of love anymore its shameful.

People can say love is important but what do they do about it. Nothing.

The fact is that the simple virtue of "Real" love is dieing. It has been for the past 300 years.

But at least when it goes I'll still be holding onto it.

Love = Life

Helth responds:

very very nice review man! im seriously glad you like it!

and i 100% agree in what u say =D

Helth

sorry no

The quality cannon be excused because there are many ways around it, and you didn't attempt to equalize it at all.

It sounds like you used a recorder or recording program to do both the song and the drumbeat at the same time.

try getting FLS or cakewalk studio.

I use cakewalk for my recording. it works really well for me.

El-Romano responds:

and that the reason I prefer to play live... ;)

hmmmm

far to much repetition. If the beat had been different it woulda been less noticable, If only because scales can be very very noticable.

The variations were pretty good but also repetative.

What you've got here would sound better if it was condensed to about a minute.

But to your credit, it sounds better then most of my music.

cyborganatomy responds:

Thanks dude. I'm trying I'm learning everyday. I also don't have the funds to buy the full version of FL 8. (FAIL!) But I'm getting there I think. I'm learning how to use 3xOsc and layering properly. Man you should have listened to all my other stuff at the beginning.

I the lord am but a pawn of a greater lord.
